How to create a Google Reminder for your phone?

05.07.2012

Google has a great service integrated within Google Calendar that is allowing users to setup reminders that will be sent to their mobile phones by SMS. What is important is that the service is free and the SMS are also free.

To setup a reminder, login to your Google account, go to the Google Calendar service.

There, if you click on “Create” and you try to create an event (a reminder), you will notice that the SMS option is missing and you only see these two options: e-mail and pop-up.

To setup your SMS alert, follow these steps. Go to “settings” (the wheel), click on the “mobile setup” tab, add your mobile phone number. You will need to enter the confirmation code that you will receive by SMS, shortly after.

There is even a list with the supported operators from different countries. (This service is fully available worldwide, not only in US).

After you have added your mobile phone number from settings, the SMS option should appear when you try to create a reminder.

Go back and create a reminder and select “SMS notification” this time. What is great about this service is that you can set it to send you SMS reminders every day, without having to set it more than one time.
