How to connect Nokia 6303i to PC using the USB cable

The Nokia 6303i comes in the retail box with an USB cable that can be used with Nokia PC Suite or the Data Storage feature that will allow to copy and manage files on the MicroSD Card.

How to connect the Nokia 6303i to the PC using an USB cable? Follow these steps: connect the USB cable to both the phone and the PC.

Notice that Windows will recognize the phone as Nokia 6303i Classic and start to install drivers.

Click next every time, “yes”, recommended, it will install the “generic phone”, “ports”, and other features. Some of them won’t be installed, Windows will display the “cannot be installed” message, ignore it.

To manage the MicroSD card for Nokia 6303i, select from Connectivity, Data Storage. From the phone, go to Menu, Settings, Connectivity, USB Data Cable (Data Storage can be selected from here if the three options will disappear from the screen when connecting the phone). A Windows partition with the MicroSD Card will appear in “My Computer”, being called “Removable Disk” (H) or any other letter. Windows might pop-up the partition also.

Windows will also try to install “MTP Device” as a driver, ignore the message. It is related to the Printing and Media feature that is near the Data Storage option.

The third option, PC Suite is for the Nokia phone management software.

Regarding the MicroSD Card for the Nokia 6303i, to insert it, remove the back case of the phone, notice on the right side of the phone the MicroSD Card slot. The correct position of the MicroSD Card (inserting it) is with the golden pins toward you by keeping the phone with the screen side toward you as well. Push the MicroSD Card until it will do a click. To remove it, push it again until it will make the same “click” sound.
