How to block Crabby from the World of Warcraft forum?

03.04.2012

This is the second year since Blizzard is adding Crabby on the official WoW forums, on both of the European and US forums.

The animation is fun on good systems but will slow old computers. To disable Crabby, a flash blocker can be installed but the pop-up messages will still appear, though. A more easier solution is to disable javascript while browsing the WoW forums.

This can be done within a simple click.

Follow these steps in order to disable javascript from your browser. Works for Mozilla Firefox. Go to (From Firefox) “Tools”, “Options”, the “Content” tab, notice the third option there, “Enable Javascript”.

Uncheck this option. Refresh the official WoW forum and notice that Crabby isn’t there anymore. A message on top of the screen will appear and will say: “JavaScript must be enabled to use this site.”

Once the javascript option is disabled, you won’t be able to select the “All realm forums..” link that will expand and display the list with all the available realms.

On good PCs, Crabby should cause no problems. If you have a big monitor, he will not be displayed above the page so browsing the forums should be fine.

For jokes, check the WoW sub-reddit page, reddit.com/r/wow or the arenajunkies forums.

Hopefully, in a few days, Blizzard will decide that is time to remove Crabby.

Update. Crabby was removed by Blizzard a few hours ago. We might see him back next year.
