Game of Thrones, differences between Season 1 and the first book

Game of Thrones, the TV series, has an incredible score on IMDB, 9,4, even higher than the first movie from TOP 250 IMDB, but comparing these is not fair because viewers are getting really attached by TV series unlike a movie that only lasts for 2 – 3 hours.

“A song of ice and fire” is the fantasy series written by George R.R. Martin, and “A game of thrones” is the first book. We already have two books put into the Game of Thrones TV series.

If you start reading the first book, you will notice that is keeping the same storyline, same characters and almost the same actions.

But there are few differences.

Tyrion doesn’t get the first scenes from the movie into the book, he just arrives later after the king at Winterfell.

Khal Drogo doesn’t fight one of his bloodriders as we see in the movie, he gets hurt in a battle when conquering a tribe.

Tyrion does fight in the book in the battle against Robb’s army. In the movie he just falls and wakes after the battle is over.

Season 3 will start in March 2013, the books are a good read and everyone that is a GoT fan should read them, even if the first book for example will become boring at some point because you already know what happens there.

Some passages from the book are incredible though like the description of The Wall, Daenerys and Drogo wedding and all that follows.
