Blizzcon 2011 coverage, Mists of Pandaria was announced

Blizzcon is now live in Anaheim, US. The World of Warcraft conference has just ended with the announcing of the new World of Warcraft expansion, Mists of Pandaria, the new continent, the new leveling experience, new content that we will enjoy in the new Asian themed expansion.

Greg Street has announced the class changes at the “class panel” that ended a few minutes ago. A new turn base gaming system with companion will be available in MOP. Something like the Final Fantasy combat.

We have a new class, the Monk, a new race, the Pandaren.

The continent is called Pandaria. Both Alliance and Horde will be able to start on the same map zone but on different sides of the map, Alliance on south and Horde in the North.

Pandaria is an Asian themed continent. Asian because of the environments, music, even clouds. Pandaria is placed in the south part of Azeroth. Auction House, the Bank and all the facilities will be available on the new continent, probably in a main city.

New dungeons, raids, gear etc. Level cap raised to 90, we will have to gain 5 more levels trough all Pandaria.

Class Changes. Blizzard is trying to change how the talents and the specs will work. Every 15 levels, the character will be able to choose between 3 options (talents) that will increase his fighting arsenal. Warriors at level 90 will choose between the new Avatar talent (like the dwarf hero from Warcraft 3), Bladestorm or Blasting Wave. Greg Street compared the 3 talents with the talents of the 3 heroes from Warcraft 3, Muradin, the Blademaster and the Tauren hero.

PVP and PVE. Many class changes, the hunter class has the dead zone removed, a very big change. All the classes are getting buffed with abilities for slowing, stunning and better CC.

The fans reactions. The YouTube trailer preview for World of Warcraft Mists of Pandaria was not received very well even though is starting pretty epic by giving players the nostalgia of the classic WoW, Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm, showing the new Pandaria continent and a few gameplay elements along the new environment.

The fans have probably expected something really impressive like live events like we have in Rift, a more credible world, a better impact of the story towards players. Even so, Mists of Pandaria can only warm our hearts since it will still be a piece of good digital entertainment as Blizzard is used to create. Mists of Pandaria Preview Trailer.
