“Offense is the best defense” saying works also for barbarians at some point where you can farm better the inferno act 1 or 2, with a 2 handed weapon instead of 1 handed weapon and shield.
The trick is to use a high DPS weapon with life steal, the Frenzy skill and have enough elemental resistance and armor to survive the elite packs.
Farming means that you won’t have any issues even with elite packs. This is possible with great gear, all pieces of gear to have around 100+ strength and vitality, high amounts of elemental resistance.
Skills to take for farming inferno with 2 handed weapon.
Frenzy with more damage or increased movement speed, Revenge with more proc rune, Ignore Pain with the rune that is increasing its effect, Leap with the armor bonus rune, Wrath of the Berserker with “striding giant” rune (you will almost take no damage when fighting elites as long as the spell is active), Warcry with “inpunity” mostly, you can switch to armor if you have too much elemental resistance.
For passive skills, Inspiring presence, Tough as Nails and Superstition/Berserker Rage (situational).
You can also tweak these skills a bit and replace “earthquake” instead of “wrath of the berserker” and also some runes.
Playing your barbarian with a 2 handed weapon can be more fun as the damage will be much higher than 1 handed weapon and shield, you will one shot most of your ACT 1 enemies.
